STHIRA YOGA 200-HOUR PART-TIME YOGA TEACHER TRAINING Winter Intake
Steady. Stable. Strong.
A grounded, embodied journey into teaching, confidence, and presence — taken slowly, over time.
Yoga is not something we do for a season.
It’s something we live with, grow through, and return to again and again. This training is an invitation to deepen your relationship with practice and, if you feel called, to learn how to share it with others in a way that is grounded, skilful, and sincere.
Rather than an intensive, fast-paced format, this is a part-time, winter-based teacher training designed to unfold steadily alongside real life. It’s a space where practice has time to settle, teachings can integrate, and learning happens through experience not pressure.
This training is for those who are drawn to yoga as a lifelong path whether your intention is to teach, to deepen your personal practice, or to understand yoga more fully from the inside out.
THE PROGRAM
This is a 200-Hour Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training, fully registered with Yoga Alliance and internationally recognised. The program is designed for those who wish to move beyond simply doing yoga — toward understanding how practice, breath, sequencing, and presence come together to create meaningful, skilful teaching. At its core, this training is about connection:
connection to your own body and practice
connection to intelligent, purposeful movement
connection to the people you will one day guide
A TRAINING STEADY WITH EXPERIENCE
This program is led by an experienced teacher and educator with many years spent training, mentoring, and graduating yoga teachers through one of Melbourne’s established yoga communities. Teaching here is not approached as performance or personality — but as clarity, consistency, and embodied leadership. Education is delivered with structure, direction, and depth, while still allowing space for individual growth and inquiry.
WHAT IS STHIRA?
In yoga, sthira ( STHEER-uh ) means steadiness. Traditionally, we speak of Tadasana — Mountain Pose. In this training, we also explore Sthirasana: the capacity to find steadiness within an unsteady world. This idea runs through the entire program. You’ll be invited to develop:
steadiness in your practice
steadiness in your teaching voice
steadiness in how you hold space for others
Strength without rigidity. Structure without force. Confidence grounded in presence. Vinyasa as a Living Practice Vinyasa in this training is taught as:
intelligent sequencing, not choreography
breath-led movement with purpose
practices that adapt to real bodies and real lives
You’ll learn how to build classes that are clear, progressive, and sustainable — for both students and teachers. This is not about pushing harder. It’s about teaching better.
A FOUNDATION FOR WHAT COMES NEXT
Throughout the training, you’ll build upon a firm foundation that integrates method, philosophy, anatomy, and practice all in service of teaching that is grounded, skilful, and sincere. Whether your path leads toward teaching or simply toward a deeper personal practice, this training offers a steady, supportive container in which that path can unfold.
The Four Pillars of the Sthira Yoga Teacher Training
How to teach safely, clearly, and confidently.
Sequencing, cueing, assists, class structure, voice, presence, and the art of holding space.
The philosophical foundations of yoga as a lived practice.
Yoga Sūtra, selected texts, ethics, inquiry, and how philosophy informs modern teaching and life.
Anatomy, biomechanics, and embodied understanding.
Learning how bodies move, adapt, and differ — with an emphasis on accessibility and longevity.
Your personal practice, practice teaching, reflection, and integration.
This is where understanding becomes lived experience.

YOGA TEACHING SKILLS
OUR PHILOSOPHY AND APPROACH
At Sthira Yoga Academy, teaching begins with steadiness. Sthira (sthih-rah) means stable, grounded, and enduring — the ability to remain present and responsive within change. This training is rooted in vinyasa yoga as a living practice: intelligent movement, conscious breath, clear methodology, and embodied awareness. We teach yoga not as a performance, but as a discipline of presence — one that builds strength, clarity, and confidence on and off the mat. This is an education grounded in practice, inquiry, and lived experience supporting students to become thoughtful, skilful, and sincere teachers.
