Become a Certified : Yoga Teacher (RYT 200)

This is a 200-Hour Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training, fully registered with Yoga Alliance and internationally recognised.

The program is designed for those who wish to move beyond simply doing yoga — toward understanding how practice, breath, sequencing, and presence come together to create meaningful, skilful teaching.

At its core, this training is about connection:

  • connection to your own body and practice
  • connection to intelligent, purposeful movement
  • connection to the people you will one day guide

A Training Steady with Experience

This program is led by an experienced teacher and educator with many years spent training, mentoring, and graduating yoga teachers through one of Melbourne’s established yoga communities. Teaching here is not approached as performance or personality — but as clarity, consistency, and embodied leadership.

Education is delivered with structure, direction, and depth, while still allowing space for individual growth and inquiry.

About Sthira Yoga Academy

Yoga Teacher Training for the 21st Century

At Sthira Yoga Academy, we offer thoughtful yoga classes, workshops, and teacher training grounded in steadiness, strength, and ease. Our approach blends classical yogic principles with modern practice — supporting clarity, resilience, and presence on and off the mat.

More About Me

Depth of Practice. Real Teaching.

My teaching is shaped by years of practice, study, and lived experience — both in Australia and abroad — but grounded firmly in what matters most: clarity, integrity, and steady progress over time.

At Sthira Yoga Academy, I bring together strong, intelligent movement, traditional yogic philosophy, and practical teaching skills to support students who want more than a surface-level experience of yoga.

Whether you’re attending classes, workshops, or entering Yoga Teacher Training, this work is about building steadiness — in your body, your mind, and your life.

Meet Your Guide

I’m Travis Chambers — E-RYT 500, founder of Sthira Yoga Academy, and a dedicated yoga educator based in the Southern Highlands.

My work blends strong, intelligent movement with traditional yogic philosophy and practical teaching skill. I’ve spent years studying, practicing, and teaching yoga in both modern studio settings and traditional contexts, and I care deeply about preserving the integrity of the practice.

I don’t teach yoga as a trend or a performance. I teach it as a disciplined, embodied path one that builds steadiness, clarity, and resilience over time. If you’re looking for thoughtful guidance, honest teaching, and depth that lasts, you’re in the right place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of yoga classes are offered at Sthira Yoga Academy in Mittagong?

Sthira Yoga Academy offers a range of class styles to support different needs, levels, and intentions. Flow (Vinyasa) is a dynamic, breath-led practice; Gentle is a softer, slower class suitable for anyone wanting a calm, steady pace; Slow or Yin is floor-based, meditative, and deeply grounding; and Kriya or Kundalini focuses on breathwork, energetic kriyas, and mantra to shift awareness and build inner strength.

How do I join a yoga class?

Simply book your class online before arriving. All students must complete the terms and conditions and pay through the website. To keep the system clean and efficient, I don’t accept cash payments in the studio.

Do I need previous yoga experience to attend a class?

No. All classes are designed to be accessible. If you are an absolute beginner, I recommend starting with a Gentle class so you can ease in and feel confident with the foundations.

What should I wear to a yoga class?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. In winter, the Southern Highlands can be cold, so layering is helpful. Socks, a warm top, and even a beanie during Yin classes can make the experience much more comfortable.

What if I have an injury or medical condition?

Please speak with your medical professional before practising. Yoga can be supportive, but it must be approached safely. Once cleared by your healthcare provider, let me know before class so I can offer appropriate options where possible.

Can I attend classes if I’m pregnant?

I am not trained in pre-natal or post-partum yoga, so I recommend seeking guidance from your healthcare provider and attending classes specifically designed for pregnancy.

What is your cancellation policy?

I keep the system simple and lean. When you book and pay for a class, that spot is reserved exclusively for you and is final. This ensures fairness and supports the sustainability of the studio.

Do you offer private or corporate yoga classes?

Yes. I offer personalised one-on-one sessions as well as corporate or workplace classes tailored to groups. These can be arranged by contacting me directly.

What qualifications do your teachers hold?

I am an E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level), a Yoga Alliance YACEP (Continuing Education Provider), hold Senior First Aid, and have completed extensive training in India and Australia across Vinyasa, Kriya, Kundalini, Ayurveda, philosophy, anatomy, and meditation.

Do you offer Yoga Teacher Training?

Yes. Sthira Yoga Academy is a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) with Yoga Alliance. I offer foundational 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training programs designed to prepare you confidently for teaching in the modern yoga world while staying rooted in philosophy, practice, and authentic lineage.
